Visit to the Fish Farm

Today is Vesak Day and we decided to take our godson Elliot (Laura's Nephew) on an excursion. We decided to go visit this fish farm in Pasir Ris, where the owner has set up am shallow pool of water where kids can go and catch these small guppies. They charge $11 per kid, which gives them a net, a pail, some fish food, mineral water and finally a small cup of ice cream.

Elliot was really excited, but it wasn't too easy catching the guppies. We managed to catch four, after some help from myself. Okay, I wasn't really supposed to help him catch but really the owners were just closing one eye. But it wasn't easy for myself as well. But it was a whole load of fun, running around trying to trap the guppies and then catching them and putting them in the pail.

We gave Kinnon one of the pails and nets, and well, he just had a lot of fun pouring the water in and out of the pond. However, he fell into one of the shallow fish ponds which contained these huge Koi fishes. Okay, he was probably thinking of catching these fishes with his hands when he plunged in.

All in all, it was quite fun, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. Especially Elliot... he didn't tell us he wasn't supposed to eat ice cream so it really made his day when he got to eat ice cream without us knowing.

Verbal Update

Okay we are past the 18 month mark and its due for a verbal update.

I haven't had the time to note down the words has managed to speak, but I thought better late than never...

bear-bear is his name for his favourite stuff toy, as well as his umbrella.

play, wa-wa for water, bus, out, done, down, eat, rice, bye-bye.

Some chinese words 门,电梯,鼻子,灯,背,玩

Kinnon's also starting to string words together... his most impressive words were "open your bag!" note the imperative, and yes we are still working on that please.

Swimming from the deep end of the pool

Laura, Kinnon and I visited my colleague Farid, his lovely wife, Geraldine and even more lovely daughter Aranati (did I get her name right?) Went over to Geraldine's mom's condominium and Aranati and Kinnon had a ball of the time playing in the pool. Aranati is about 1 year 8 months (2 months older than Kinnon)

I was very impressed by how Aranati, could float and move herself around just balancing on a noodle (its a long cylindrical flotation device) near the deep end of the pool.
We borrowed Aranati's noodle and had Kinnon tried out... He was pretty scared, and we could see him hanging for his dear life... but at least he managed to hang on to it. Farid was pretty impressed by Kinnon seeing that it was his first time on the flotation device.
