Day of Coincidences

This has been absolutely the most amazing day of coincidences I have ever had.

This morning, I went to the one of the retreats organised by A*STAR, one of our statutory boards and met up with Amanda, whom I haven't met since her wedding in 2001. She's now back in Singapore after spending 7+ years in Boston just doing her Phd in Molecular Biology. We also met other JC (high school) classmates Eileen and Ailing as well. All of them have Phds which makes me wonder whether I should be getting mine as well. :)

You wouldn't believe what happened tonight... I never usually bring Kinnon out so late in the evenings, but seeing that he wasn't going to sleep, and that he was asking me to bring him out... I decided to take him up for a stroll just before nine (nine's usually his bed time). We did a round at the playground, but Kinnon wasn't really in the playing mode. There was another boy there, very cute and Eurasian (mixed descent) so I asked the mother how old the boy was... And the mother said, are you KB? And I am like, Oh my God it's Michelle.... a good JC friend of mine who like Amanda, I last met at her wedding 7 years ago. She went back to New Zealand with a her husband but she has been back since 2003.

I spoke to her husband and found out that he is a professor at NUS teaching of all things Industrial Organisation -- the discipline that I am supposed to be doing my Phd in. He invited me to his weeklly IO workshop meeting the next day. Mebbe, someone really is trying to tell me something about my Phd.

This is really so random, because they don't live anywhere her and had just popped by because they were dropping something off at her brother's place which wasn't anywhere near our place. They had just discovered this play ground a couple of weeks ago, and Ian (their kid) really liked it a great deal.
