More help

Went today to pick up our domestic maid, Saly from the agency. She is from the Phillipines. and she has two other sisters here in Singapore. It's an entirely new experience for me because I never grew up with maids at home. I believe that I will take some getting used to, especially our loss in privacy. Fortunately, Laura has had alot more experience growing up with maids and she will be supervising Saly.

Pictures with Family

Okay, here's some pictures with the family. The first shot is with mommy, Kinnon is looking a little dopey here, and the second shot is with Daddy (yes, you get to see some eye bags in this close up shot). And the last shot is with his proud grandparents.

We have a name...

We finally registered our baby's name today. We were given up to two weeks to register the birth of the baby and we did it on the last possible day, because we were still deciding on his name.

We gave him two English names. His first name, Kinnon is a Scottish name (to remind him of his Scottish ancestry) and means "fair-born". For his middle name we decided to choose Luke, the Evangelist.

My mom picked his Chinese name, Shi Jun. The first name Shi is from our family poem (Jia Pu) and will be used by all his subsequent brothers (if any) and Jun means gentleman or sovereign. However, for his registration we decided not to use the Mandarin transliteration but the dialect transliteration of his name. We finally settled for Seh Guan.

So his full name is TAN Seh Guan, Kinnon Luke.

At the hospital

Okay, now that I have got a little bit more time, I am uploading some of our pictures from the hospital, Kandang Kerbau Hospital

This picture shows baby's big brown eyes and his ever so angelic look.

Laura and I stayed in the hospital for two nights and came home last Wednesday. Here's the view from our hospital ward, overlooking the city.

Here's a picture of mom and baby before checking out...

After much coaxing, we decided to set up a blog for baby.

This saves me having to email everyone, to tell them about baby and sending them photos that clog up their email box.

After a tiring labour, Laura gave birth to a healthy baby boy at 1646 on 31st of October 2005 (Halloween). This gives him somethng to celebrate on his birthday every year, not that we celebrate Halloween much here in Singapore.

Here's a picture of baby right after his delivery. He came into this world with lots of black hair. He is here warm under the heater...Baby is 3.16 kg (or 7 pounds) 51cm long, with a head circumference of 35cm.
