Christmas Day

Kinnon, Laura and myself wish you all a merry Christmas. Thank you for all the well wishes!

Its been a busy day for all of us, and I think Kinnon must be wondering why we have been meeting so many friends and family members in the past two days.

We celebrated Christmas Eve's at Laura's grandmothers place. There were lots of kids, children and babies. The highlight of the night was Andrew and Ian's (our newphews) dance performance to the tune of Singing in the Rain and Uptown Girl. We were all bowled over. Kevin and myself provided the live music for the evening, he was on the guitar and I was on the violin.

We went for Christmas morning mass the next day. Our first Christmas with the baby. I really liked one of the songs that was song, and I was looking at Kinnon when I sang it. I think having a baby really makes me understand how small and vulnerable Jesus was when he came into the world.

One small child in a land of a thousand
One small dream of a savior tonight
One small hand reaching out to the starlight
One small savior of love
One small savior of love

One king bringing his gold and his riches
One king ruling an army of might
One king kneeling with incense and candlelight
One king bringing us life
One king bringing us life

See the shepherds kneeling before him
See the kings on bended knee
See the mother praising the father
See his tiny eyelids fall

We went over to Laura's parents place for Christmas day celebrations. Laura's relatives from Kuching had flown in and joined as for the festivities. In the evening, it was my turn to cook, as I had my parents and my auntie over.

Kinnon's Baptism

Kinnon was baptised together with his cousin Caitlyn at St Anne's Church today. Laura decided that it would make more sense to have a combined baptism with her cousin Allison. I thought it would be good so that our relatives wouldn't have to come twice, besides, we could then split the costs of the reception.

We invited my cousin's Jerome and Agnes to be Kinnon's god parents. Laura and I are godparents to Jerome and Agnes second son Declan. Kevin and Kim, Laura's brother and sister-in-law were godparents to Caitlyn. I have probably gotten all of you confused who is cousin's to who, but suffice to say, it was just a big family affair.

after being awake for a while at the start, Kinnon pretty much slept through the whole affair. Even when Father Henry Siew poured cold water over his head three times.

I personally enjoy baptisms. Baptisms are a time for all of us to renew our faith and our beliefs, especially in the presence of the people around us. More so, at a baptism, we are reminded that we need everyone's help, our friends, our god-parents, our family members, all the saints and angels in our heavenly family to follow Christ.

First Month Celebration

We celebrated our first month celebration today.

My parents booked the function room at the condominium and we catered food from Chili Padi Nonya restaurant. I "commissioned" one of my cousins to make the banana cakes we gave out, and we made the traditional red eggs that we gave out to our guests.

Lots of relatives came as well as some of our friends and colleagues popped by. It was a nice size gathering. My buddy Vern Tat and Jordan came and it was good catching up with them. L'retta, Vincent's wife brought along some home baked biscuits for my parent's dog. Karen and Kenneth came, as well as Pat and Anthony. There were lots of kids as well, which made the whole gathering really festive.

Kinnon obviously was the star of the day, and he was really alert, looking and listening to all those new faces and voices. He received lots of new toys and clothes today and Laura was saying that we could even open a children's clothing shop.
