Catching up

Okay every now and then I realise to my shock and horrors that I haven't written for the past 3-4 months and then I sit down to make amends for it. Yes, I feel guilty for not keeping track of my kids growing up. As it is I haven't been keeping track of the words that Ashlynn is learning to speak as diligently as I did for Kinnon.

So better late than never... Just to out myself all the entries since October 2008 have been "back-posted"

Today is the first day of school for Kinnon and it didn't start very well. He fell down on the way to school and he fell down on the way back. The kindergarten allows parents to be there on the first two days of school. Laura is sitting in, because I can't bear to hear Kinnon cry when he finds out on the third day, that he really has to go to school on his own and mommy and daddy can't be beside him during school. Okay I'm the softy and yes, maybe we just have to go through this the hardway.

Sick for Christmas.

This was a really bad Christmas... We were supposed to host Laura's extended family over on Christmas eve and we were all looking forward to it. Christmas eve morning, Kinnon runs a high fever and we had to shift the party to Laura's parents place, and Kinnon was grounded along with me. Well, if we were going to be grounded, we were going to eat well anyway... so I served up a caprese salad with some boccocino (Buffalo Mozarella) I had brought from Carrefour.... which Kinnon was enjoying till the point that he vomits everything out. We ended up having a rather arduous Christmas eve night, because he was battling rather high fever and the fever medication wasn't quite keeping the temperature down. We had to send Kinnon to the doctor's on Christmas day where he was prescribed Augmentin.

Subsequently I got sick, and went to see the doctor. I thought all I needed was some antihistamine for some backdrip, when the doctor sez, I think you have a sinus infection and giving you antibiotics will help you get better sooner. Well he was right about the first but wrong about the second. On Monday, my face just felt so puffed up that I couldn't tilt my head down. Didn't help that I was working till 9pm and having to deliver stuff to my boss's place for a media release the next day. The antibiotic didn't help and on New Year's Day, I felt a sharp pain in my throat... Good thing is that I feel better now.

I guess it wasn't the Christmas we wished for. But I don't think it was any less meaningful. After we did spend a good deal of time together as family as a result of not being to go out and I am extremely grateful for that. At the heart of the Christmas, its really about being with family...
